The Bell Jar

It's so nice when a nice book has a nice cover..  :) I was looking for The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath for a while, looking for it at Landmark, Chennai, they said they might have it and found me a really ugly copy and I was sooo disappointed but I KNEW I had to find another one coz I had been wanting the book pretty bad and so I spent some time looking and not giving up and then I found the perfect copy (on the right) and it's just so beautiful, isn't it? Never give up, if you want it bad, you will get it!

Chennai calling

I always felt a connection to `south of india', I always loved my sambhar, dosas and saris. I have seen most places in south of india and I love going to Tirupati and temples there, string a strange beautiful feeling within me. Then I fell in love with this boy from Madras and four years later we got married.

Now the boy and me, whenever we visit Chennai, have our favorite things to do there and must-go places to go to. I can not make a chennai trip without going to KhaderNavaz road and to City Center mall and Good Earth, Amethyst, Anokhi and Fab India.. Oh I can't wait!! :) I am going to do a feature on some of these fav places of mine in Chennai after the upcoming trip.. so look out for more on this.
Meanwhile I can't wait to get the pickles from fabindia - one of the best!!

Remembering Dilli...

Long time ago or what seems like that anyways, I spent a few years in Delhi - very interesting ones. :) And I will always remember the winter and how I was in that time. You know - how you remember yourself sometimes in a certain place, in a certain time... and you can almost see yourself then and you get so so painfully nostalgic..?
And I remember vaguely.. and sometimes clearly - how I felt, what I thought of things, how I was trying to forget and hoping to find, how I did...
how I was so lost, so painfully thin :).. I remember the fog, oh the gloomy romantic fog. Winters in Delhi are one my fav fav things to experience.. I love the street side food places serving indian chinese and even the soups will have tiny little paneer pieces.. :) (which i'm not a big fan of)

A tiny store near janpath (on parliament street) was a place I would visit often, I loved how cozy this place was.. how bohemian.. and how fitting to who I was at that time. This tiny space has some amazing prints.. and great finds. I especially love the pants and jackets from here.

They have some great T-shirts too with quirky prints and poetry. Guys will love it too I think!

In the barn

It's been more than six months since we have moved to our new place right in Downtown Burj (in Dubai)
We were very lucky to get this current apartment, especially because it faces The Burj and has some amazing views of the tallest tower in the world and the fountain and old town underneath. Also, it's a got two rooms.
One room has never been done. It serves as a junk room pretty much. And once I make up my mind of wanting to convert it into my studio room or a guest room, things will be easier..
Anyways, so two weeks back V and I were in a mood to settle that room into a guestroom. Put our current bedroom furniture there and buy a new set for us! And that thrills me.. :)
We went to the newly opened Pottery Barn, in Mirdiff Mall. It was my first time at a Pottery Barn and I was so excited and I quite loved it actually and didn't take me long to fall in love with this chest

and we almost bought it too. But then before buying most things I always dwell and take time thinking about them.. so in the end we have skipped the idea for now, but I do think at some point this will be perfect for us. We don't like very heavy furniture, but this one is perfect.

And this table I was ready to pick up without any thinking, coz this is just the kind of table I have been looking for past few years.. but they didn't have it in stock. I still love it!! :) On second thoughts, think it would be perfect if this was also in white..

I did though, end up picking a 5 liter glass watercan with tap. Been trying to get hold of a picture but can't find one, will take a pic of the one we got at home and post it soon. I hated the idea of a plastic local water filter in the kitchen, and so this is perfect! pics coming soon..

Meanwhile, I also love these lights and want them soooo bad, I don't think PB Dubai had these though.. but being such a string-lights freak, i love these summery paper lights!

Oh and of course, nothing got done with the other room! :)
